French President Emmanuel Macaron stressed the importance of the Palestinian
people's rights, saying, “The legitimate rights of the Palestinians can not be
turned a blind eye."
Speaking at the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York,
Macron said that the repression of Palestinians and unilateral initiatives
would not solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The French president stressed the importance of a two-state solution, saying:
"There is no alternative to a two-state solution, and Israel must put an
end to the de facto policy."
The French president also called upon US President Donald Trump to maintain its
oil exports if he wants to see the oil prices slowing down.
He pointed out that Iran's ability to sell its oil is good for peace and
international oil prices, however the US sanctions on Iran will hit its oil
sector in early November.
Trump has set up a series of tough sanctions, which also target foreign
companies or countries that still deal with Tehran. Under threat, many large
groups such as Total and Daimler AG, which has a very large US presence, have
decided to withdraw from Iran out of fear of US sanctions.
