18,000 Afghans impatiently waiting to travel to US
American legislators called on May 18 for evacuating thousands of allies from Afghanistan to rescue them from a bloodbath that may happen in the country after the withdrawal of American and NATO troops from it.
Nevertheless,
the US administration has not minded any of these calls yet, amid fears from
the potential collapse of the Afghan government after the aforementioned
pullout.
Over
18,000 Afghan translators and commando troops who helped the American troops
during their occupation of Afghanistan wait impatiently to get immigration
visas to the US.
American
legislators say the travel of this large number of people to the US may take up
to two years.
A
Republican legislator warned against the ramifications of the unrest that is
expected to happen in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of American and NATO
troops from it.
He
expected Afghanistan to turn into another Vietnam.
He
showed text messages sent to an American soldier by an Afghan colleague who
told him that he was afraid to be killed by the Taliban after the withdrawal of
American troops from Afghanistan.
US
President Joe Biden said American troops would pull out of Afghanistan in
September this year.
US
officials said, meanwhile, that the American government would speed up the
issuance of immigration visas to American allies in Afghanistan.
One
of these officials even said that these allies may be transferred to another
country until the visa issued is sorted out.
