ISIS into different tools to lure new recruits
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) uses a series of tools to draw in recruits and followers.
The
terrorist organization mainly targets unemployed and marginalized youth,
especially in Africa.
It
reaches out to them through social media and the production of films, which are
proving to be effective among poor and marginalized youth. This youth find in
the ISIS propaganda a good escape from the tough conditions in which they live.
ISIS
also follows a number of untraditional strategies to attract supporters,
including through the use of local radios in African countries. The terrorist
organization uses these radios in promoting its ideas about the creation of an
Islamic caliphate.
ISIS
also tries to exploit deteriorating economic conditions in a number of
countries, especially among youth. It invites disgruntled and marginalized
youth to join it in return for money.
Before
it sustained defeats in Iraq and Syria, ISIS also tried to encourage new
elements to migrate to the two countries, having called them the land of the
caliphate.
It
posted a video, in which it provided information about life in the ISIS state
as well as the services it offers the citizens of this state.
ISIS
succeeded in making its presence strongly felt on social media in the past few
years. This is particularly true in Africa where it tries to draw in new
recruits, using bad conditions in most of the countries of the continent.
ISIS
offers new recruits in Africa $1 million as an advance payment for joining it.
