MWL Condemns Houthi Attacks against Civilians, Int’l Shipping Lanes
The Muslim World League (MWL) condemned Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen for targeting civilians in Saudi Arabia.
It cited the recent attack on Khamis Mushait
city using a bomb-laden UAV and on maritime shipping lines using booby-trapped
boats, which threaten international trade and energy supply.
In a statement, Secretary-General of the MWL
Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa called for intensifying
international efforts and putting an end to terrorist attacks by the Houthis.
He reminded that Houthi hostilities pose a
severe threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom, the entire region
and international trade.
“These terrorist attacks and
attempts to threaten the security of the Kingdom, regional stability and safety
and integrity of global trade require the international community to join its
efforts in putting an end to these terrorist acts supported by Iran,” an MWL
statement read.
Issued on behalf of the MWL’s councils and
affiliates, the statement reaffirmed full support for the Kingdom and any
measures it takes to defeat all forms of terrorism and defend its peace and
regional security.
It slammed the Houthis for their coup against
the legitimate government, their aimless attempts to destabilize Yemen and
promoting of terrorist slogans that are alien to the peaceful Yemeni people.
The Yemenis willingly chose their legitimate
government and were pursuing a prosperous future before the Houthis carried out
their terrorist sectarian coup.
The MWL condemned the Houthis for deploying child soldiers as cannon fodder to battle fronts, in flagrant violation of religious and humanitarian values and international laws and norms.
