Iranian opposition stepping up criticism of Tehran
The representative of the office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran in the United States held a conference on December 15 to discuss political options to confront what they described as the 'growing Iranian threat'.
During the conference, the council
unveiled its new book 'Iran: The Drone Threat to the Guards – The regime’s
desperate ploy to project its power and incite war'.
Facts unfolding
A host of American experts and
politicians attended the conference.
The event revealed the names of a
large number of companies that act as fronts for the Revolutionary Guards Corpse
of Iran.
The companies, conference speakers
said, manage the Iranian regime's drone program.
They explained that these companies
have civilian names, but work in the service of the Revolutionary Guard Corpse.
The companies provide parts and
accessories for the Iranian drone program.
Recommendations for action
The conference participants called
for firmly dealing with the Iranian regime.
The regime, they said, should not be
granted any relief from sanctions.
They also called for applying United
Nations resolutions on Iran decisively and firmly.
The conference speakers referred to
Iran's alleged sponsorship of terrorist organizations, noting that this
sponsorship poses threats to US security.
Joseph Lieberman, a former
Connecticut senator, said the same sponsorship causes concern for US allies in
the Middle East region.
He warned that US allies could no
longer count on it because of its failure to confront the actions of the
Iranian regime.
Lieberman said the US was on the
wrong path, resuming nuclear talks with Iran in Vienna.
He added that in resuming the talks,
US politicians overlook the realities of Iran's regional and international
policies.
"This is very risky," Lieberman
said.
