Egypt and Morocco put Libya in mind

Since the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi's regime, many parties have intervened, aware of the effects of the Libyan file on the region.

Cairo was the most influential and willing to play an important role, but Morocco started in 2015, in addition to confronting terrorism, which is one of the meeting points between Egypt and Morocco, considering Libya, which was a front for extremist organizations, an important goal in the game.

Egyptian-Moroccan rapprochement

In order to discuss the developments of the crisis in Libya with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry went to Morocco on a two-day visit between May 9 and 10. A hypothesis for the return of violence, which was the worst scene in the country in recent times.

Positive rapprochement towards Libya

The Egyptian-Moroccan rapprochement reinforced a positive attitude towards Libya, as the meeting of the Egyptian Foreign Minister with his Moroccan counterpart was a step to bring Moroccan positions closer to the Egyptian vision of everything that is happening in Libya.

The Egyptian-Moroccan meeting was also an opportunity to talk about Cairo’s hosting of consultations and negotiations on the constitutional track between the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the Libyan state, which took place in Cairo during the past few days.

In it, Cairo expressed its confidence that the joint committee’s efforts will put Libya on the path of stability, security and development, stressing that it was and still is keen to sponsor the Libyan constitutional track, based on its historical ties and balanced relations with all Libyan parties.
