Sophia Kianni: 7 million people die as result of fossil fuel pollution
Sophia Kianni, a member of the UN Secretary-General's Youth
Advisory Group on Climate Change, said that no single country has a climate
commitment.
Kianni added that 7 million people die as a result of fossil
fuel pollution, and if the world would take decisions regarding the use of
fossil fuels, the risk would decrease.
“I mentioned that we have a shortage of fossil fuels, and we
need to take a decision to bridge this gap. We are present to stop pollution
and to prevent leaders from lying and to fulfill their promises, because they
lie a lot,” she said.
Kianni continued, “We want to know what language is needed
in order to agree to solve the climate problem. I believe that the reason for
not dealing with this problem is because we do not have the information.”
“We need leaders to stop lying and to start the real work
and find an immediate solution to this problem,” she concluded.
