Australian forum to discuss global terrorism
Australia’s Victoria Police
Department launched on Monday a three-day forum to counter terrorist attacks
across the world. The forum is aimed at combatting terrorism and discuss all
aspects of this global phenomenon.
Melbourne, Australia’s second
biggest city after Sydney, will host the forum, in which roughly 500 experts
will take part.
Victoria Police deputy commissioner
of specialist operations, Wendy Steendam has said terrorism has become a danger
posing a threat to the world. She said officials from the UK's London Police
and Canada would participate in the forum.
“The terrorism threat facing
Australia is unlikely to subside anytime soon,” she said.
The forum, the second of its kind
one month after Somali-born Hassan Khalif attacked people in Bourke Street
killing one and injuring two others.
