Taliban commander, 20 fighters killed in Balkh airstrike

A commander of the Taliban group Mullah Abdul Basir
and his 20 fighters have been killed in an airstrike in northern Balkh province
of Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported Thursday.
The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in
the North said in a statement the airstrike was carried out by coalition forces
late last night.
According to 209th Shaheen Corps, an armored vehicle
of the militants was also destroyed along with several motorcycles in the
airstrike.
Another militant was killed during clashes with the
security forces in Darwaza Khwaja area of the province, added the statement.
The anti-government armed groups including Taliban
have not commented on the killing of the group’s fighters so far.
