Brotherhood’s international organization whitewashes HTS after release of British national
British newspapers and news portals
broadcast a number of videos showing the release of British national Mohammed
Shakiel Shabir, who was abducted by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a terrorist
group in the northern Syrian governorate of Idlib.
Shabir, from Birmingham, was
reportedly taken by an armed group in Idlib in November, after which they
demanded £3million in exchange for his release.
The video was made by HTS militant
group and was broadcast on an online channel. The video carries the logo of
HTS's Ebaa News Agency. HTS is a terrorist group that has been active since
2017 in Syria on the back of political and security turmoil and was designated
by the United States as a terrorist organization in August 2018.
In October 2018, HTS freed Japanese
reporter Jumpei Yasuda, who was kidnapped by HTS and Al-Nusra Front in May
2016. Qatar mysteriously brokered a deal with HTS to release Yasuda.
However, there remains a very good question:
Why would HTS release the video and free the captive without making financial gains?
Brotherhood
assistance
The Muslim Brotherhood usually
introduces itself as an organization of a peaceful ideology, which is not true.
History reveals the Brotherhood’s false claims to be a peaceful organization.
Shabir appeared after his release on
Middle East Eye, which is a channel run by the international organization of
the Muslim Brotherhood. Middle East Eye is a news network founded in 2009 in
Britain and is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood's international
organization and supervised by Tariq Ramadan, grandson of Hassan
al-Banna, founder of the Muslim
Brotherhood. Ramadan is accused of a number of rape cases in France.
The network interviewed Shabir,
bringing back to the minds interviews made by Al-Jazeera with terrorists such
as Osama bin Laden. Certainly, Shabir is not a terrorist, but he appeared in a
miserable shape.
Moreover, the network praised HTS
role in freeing Shabir and hosted spokesperson of the terrorist organization, Obaida
al-Saleh. British journalist Yvonne Ridley, who converted to Islam after she
was held hostage by Taliban, interviewed Shabir, who said he wouldn’t leave
Syria and has never thought to return home.
It is no surprise that the
Brotherhood-run network interviewed al-Saleh to save the face of HTS.
The British national was abducted at
a security checkpoint. It is well known that HTS has checkpoints in the region,
and the only group that controls Idlib.
The interview was made to whitewash
to the terrorist organization, and to show it as the official responsible for safeguarding
security in Idlib.
In January 2019, HTS abducted a boy
under the age of 15, a son of a wealthy man in southern Idlib. However, the
villagers tracked the hijackers, who were armed men from Uzbekistan and HTS
members.
Moreover, HTS does not openly
declare itself as a criminal group that abducts
civilians, leaving the negotiations
for criminal rings as in the case of the Japanese reporter -- Yasuda.
However, HTS, which is backed by
Qatar, seeks to get help from Doha's media arms and the Brotherhood’s international
organization to save its face.
