Economic conference: Egypt addresses the crisis with a step forward
The first session of the economic conference called for by
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will be held on Monday, with the attendance of
1,000 people, including more than 80 members of the Egyptian political parties,
under clear directives from the presidency to discuss all issues with absolute
transparency.
A number of senior economic experts will participate in the
conference, which will run from October 23 to 25, including Mohamed El-Erian,
Ahmed Bahaa El-Din, Medhat Nafeh, Hani Sarie El-Din and Neveen El-Tahri.
The president called on all political parties and forces to
participate in the conference to present their vision on the challenges facing
the state and the Egyptian economy.
The conference will discuss a number of major issues, and
political parties and forces will also submit inquiries to the government on
many topics, most notably “state ownership of projects, inflation and social
protection for the citizen.”
The agenda of the conference includes several sessions over
its three days, according to three main tracks. The first track includes
macroeconomic policies, while the second track focuses on empowering the
private sector and creating a business environment, and the third track is
devoted to formulating the future roadmap for priority sectors in the
government’s work program for the coming period. The latter track will witness
the holding of a number of interactive time sessions that discuss the visions and
ideas of experts on what the required policies are to to achieve national goals
in a number of priority sectors for the Egyptian economy and the nature of the
procedures required to overcome the existing challenges facing these sectors.
The conference comes in light of a global economic crisis
that is engulfing the entire world following the war between Russia and
Ukraine.
