After the failure of the Brotherhood's efforts to mobilize the Sudanese people against the transitional government, led by Awal Abdul-Fattah al-Burhan, the group resorted to spreading chaos, through terrorist cells that trained them in the manufacture and installation of explosives.
Terrorist cell
The Sudanese Public Prosecution uncovered a Muslim Brotherhood terrorist cell that had planned terrorist attacks in the country, according to what it announced on Thursday, February 13, 2020.
The Sudanese Attorney General's office said that a prosecutor in a suburb of the capital, Khartoum, had registered a case against a member of a terrorist cell that was planning to carry out bombings in Sudanese cities.
The Sudanese authorities seized on Tuesday 11 February 2020 in the house of one of the elements of the terrorist cell explosive devices and belts, chemicals, electronic devices, and maps of some Sudanese cities.
According to the accused’s confessions, the cell belonged to the Egyptian Brotherhood, and judicial orders were issued to arrest the rest of the cell.
The defendant also admitted that he had received training in the manufacture and installation of explosives, that he and the rest of the network were sent through smuggling (months ago to Sudan), and that the aim of the network was to carry out bombing operations inside Sudan.
It is noteworthy that there are about 300 brothers escaping from Egypt on farms in the east of the Nile in the capital Khartoum for years, and they take pseudonyms.
The arrest of the terrorist cell reveals the support that Egyptian brothers provide to their counterparts in the Sudanese Brotherhood.
Meanwhile, the Sudanese Brotherhood is trying to strengthen its presence in the country by fanning internal tensions.
Green crawl
The Brotherhood has tried to return to power after the Sudanese revolution several times. After it became certain that the Sudanese authorities would not be fooled and drifted behind its attempts, the group devised what is known as "green crawl" marches to strike stability and stop the wheel of peaceful transition, according to Sudanese circles.
According to the Sudanese media, the Brotherhood, with a country plan, invented a "green advance" to disrupt the transitional government, relieve pressure on the group's remnants, and not hold them accountable for the crimes they committed during the past thirty years.
It is noteworthy that the green crawl activity began for the first time in Khartoum on December 14, 2019, in a number of Sudanese governorates, leaving violent incidents and security tensions that almost slipped with them in the quagmire of chaos.
Violence: Brotherhood’s path to power
In a statement to the Reference, Ibrahim Rabie, the dissident Brotherhood leader, said that the method of violence and coups is still the only means that has been tried for the Brotherhood's coming to power in the country, stressing that the Brotherhood's historical violence is embodied in their repeated attempts to fight the Sudanese revolution.
Rabie continued that the Brotherhood has throughout its history used verbal and physical violence to achieve its goal of achieving power; but the Sudanese people have become more aware of the Brotherhood’s methods, as well as their tendency to approach moderation in religiosity.
He pointed out that the efforts of the Transitional Military Council are bearing fruit, and spoiling the Brotherhood's attempts to restore chaos in the country again.
