The Egyptian Embassy in Rome, headed by Ambassador Bassam Rady, organized a major cultural event to promote the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, in cooperation with the Defense Office at the embassy headed by Colonel Mohamed Shahin. The event took place at the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, headed by Dr. Rania Yehia, in the heart of the Italian capital.

The ceremony was attended by a number of senior Italian officials, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as a distinguished group of experts, archaeologists, Egyptologists, and representatives of the cultural sector.

The event included a detailed presentation of the components of the Grand Egyptian Museum, its modern halls, and its exhibition vision, in addition to showcasing the stages of its construction—from laying the foundation stone to its opening on November 1. Guests also toured the Fine Arts Exhibition and the museum inside the Academy, which houses a collection of pharaonic replicas inspired by the treasures of King Tutankhamun.

In his speech, Ambassador Bassam Rady affirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum embodies the efforts of the Egyptian state, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to highlight and present Egyptian antiquities in a manner worthy of the grandeur of Egyptian civilization, and to offer them to the world according to the most advanced global standards.

He added that the international celebration of the museum’s opening sent a clear message to the entire world, reflecting the richness of Egyptian heritage throughout history. It also demonstrates the strong commitment of the Egyptian state, under President El-Sisi, to protecting cultural and archaeological heritage and presenting it to humanity as an integral part of world heritage and a civilizational beacon to all nations.

Guests expressed their happiness and pride in Egypt’s ancient civilization and commended the continuous efforts of the Egyptian state to enhance Egypt’s regional and global standing.
