The Islamic State terrorist group (Daesh) and its affiliates have reached a "very advanced stage" in its weapon , according to a UN report.

Ths United Nations Member States believe that one of the main threats that could be imposed by returning of terrorist fighter to their homes is the military experience that they acquired in war zones, particularly the experience of drone usgae.

A drone flying over Fort de Brégançon, near French President Emmanuel Macron’s summer home, has been reported on August 6.  Two days earlier, other two miniature drones, loaded with a Kilogram of C-4 each, had exploded in Caracas. So, a UN report has affirmed the fear of Daesh’s usage of the drone weapon.

"Imminent security threat"

The usage of  drones in launching terrorist attacks by the militant group is one of the main risks of which many experts warned over many years.

Some UN experts had previously addressed - upon a data provided by member states- this issue prior to the publication of this report.

At the beginning of 2018, member states voiced their concerns over the militants’ usage of drones; consequently, some states tightened their control of the e-commercial drone,  the experts said, noting that the issue of legalizing e-commercial drones was debatable.

Over the past year, the Islamic State militants have developed the commercial drones via replaying its parts with materials of spying and improvised explosives . Most of drones found in Syria and Iraq are commercial models, whose costs estimated at $100 to $1,000. Such devices were used since 2014 in shooting the propaganda videos, indirect attacks, and surveillance.

IS militants used the first drone attack in 2012. In its full strength, the militant group was seeking to get the necessary parts that help design and install large drones to increase its attack ability.

In January 2018, Russia announced that its  military base in Syria’s Hmeimim was targeted by ten drones armed with explosive devices, AFP reported. Also, the Russian fleet in Tartous was attacked by three drones, without causing human or material casualties, AFP added.

Over the past few years, a series of “suspicious” trips to French nuclear reactors were reported, pushing the French authorities to be on alert as usual for any possible attack could be carried out by bad civilians, foreigners, or by terrorists.

The French General Secretariat for Defence and National Security (SGDSN) has adopted several methods to monitor and intercept any improvised explosive devices. Moreover, drone-related laws were enacted to safely control the usage of the drones in only the scientific purpose.

In October 2016, Two soldiers of  the French Special Forces were injured by a drone loaded with explosives when they picked them up from the ground.
