Fradkov restores glamor to Kremlin's think tank

The Russian Institute for Strategic Studies,
which was established by the Russian Presidency, has intensified activities in
the summer through the Russian and international media. Former prime minister
and former head of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov, who is
running the research institute, is behind the activity boom.
President Vladimir Putin appointed Fradkov
to improve analytical research for the Kremlin. The institute is directly
connected to the Kremlin. The institute opened an annex located at Smolansky
St., near the Kremlin.
The institute remains influenced by the
previous administration under Igor Borovkov, who is the second man in analysis
at Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service.
Although Fradkov is not part of Putin's close circle, he has very strong
connections as he is currently non-executive chairman of Almaz-Antey, which produces
air defense systems S-400.
