European discontent is mounting with the growing threat of terrorism financed by Doha under the leadership of Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. On August 6, Fox News interviewed a former security agent, Jason G. (a pseudonym he chose for fear of retaliation by the Qatari regime), who revealed the huge amount of funding that Doha pays the Lebanese Hezbollah militia through the emirate's ambassadors in Europe, who act as mediators for terrorist groups.
Jason said that a member of the royal family in Qatar uses the country’s tremendous wealth to support Hezbollah's activities. He supported his claims with a dossier documenting various activities that took place since 2017 between Doha and Hezbollah.
Ambassadors in EU
The documents reveal the existence of an imminent threat to the stability of European Union countries, especially the EU headquarters in Brussels. Jason noted that the Qatari ambassador to Belgium and NATO, Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Sulaiman Al-Khulaifi, sought to pay Jason €750,000 during a meeting they had in January 2019, and these funds were part of a deal to finance Hezbollah.
According to Jason, the Qatari ambassador plays a pivotal role in arms deals and facilitating Hezbollah’s access to weapons by means of diplomatic immunity. NATO and the Belgian government have yet to respond to these charges.
These revelations uncover the extent of entanglement that Qatar was able to create for itself in the EU headquarters by choosing an ambassador involved in dubious activities and partnerships with terrorist groups to work in Brussels and with NATO, so as to be close to decision making circles and to have broad influence over Hezbollah's financing and the formation of its strategic decisions.
European calls to expel Qatar’s ambassadors
French Senator Nathalie Goulet urged the formation of a European strategy to deal with Qatar as one of the biggest financers of extremist groups in the world, calling on Belgium to pressure the European Union to open an expanded investigation to ensure the integrity of the Qatari government’s bank accounts in Europe. She also pointed to Turkey as a major partner of Qatar in these operations, warning of the danger Ankara posed to European security.
British MP Ian Paisley Jr. described the Qatari government’s activities as “shameful”, calling on the Belgian government and the European Union to take a serious stance towards the Gulf emirate and its blatant funding of terrorist groups that threaten international peace and security. He noted the need to be wary of Doha and Ankara due to their joint work in financing the Brotherhood to be an ideological trumpet that establishes their global agenda.
It should be noted that the widespread proliferation of Brotherhood organizations under the guise of a humanitarian and advocacy image within the EU exacerbates the danger of its ideology on the countries of the region. The strategy used clearly relies on the group’s literature in terms of empowering the community base through humanitarian activities, in addition to accessing the ruling class through ambassadors who run the terrorist network internationally.
