Silent cowards: Mullahs are mute as Iran burns on fire

There were many questions regarding the official Iranian silence over the bombings and deliberate fires that have affected the country, showing the extent of the regime’s weakness. Despite all these painful blows afflicting it, Tehran has not even dared to announce any possible direction from which these blows are coming, as the regime fears that the truth of its weakness and the extent of the penetration of its security apparatus will be revealed, along with sensitive sites, whether in the heart of the capital or throughout Iran’s various regions.

Verge of disaster

Fires have affected sensitive nuclear and military sites, which is a warning of an imminent disaster. The authorities have recognized only some of the fires, but many fires and explosions during the past two months have been denied by the regime. This has sparked controversy over deliberate sabotage operations, most importantly at the Natanz nuclear facility in Isfahan, which had destroyed uranium enrichment equipment and disrupted the nuclear program for several months, according to statements by officials. Iranian MP Javad Karimi-Ghodousi, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, admitted that the cause was a “security breach.”

Another prominent incident was the attack on the Khojir missile base east of Tehran, while recent satellite images revealed that the attack on the Garmdareh area west of Tehran targeted a Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) air base.

Silent cowards

The Iranian regime is avoiding pointing an accusatory finger at Israel, which Iranian circles believe to be behind these attacks, but the official narrative insists on silence about the identity of the attackers, because Tehran cannot respond militarily to the Israelis when the home front is collapsing and the government's popularity declining.

Iran’s economic collapse has also reached unprecedented levels, even though Tehran has focused in recent years on adopting a so-called “resistance economy,” in which it has invested heavily to support the country's strategic industries at a time when it seeks to replace local production with imported goods. But this strategy was ineffective and instead increased pressure on the country's budget and banking system while vital sectors in Iran are subject to the American blockade, such that the corona virus came to exacerbate the country's exhausted economy.

The Iranian rial also tumbled as a result of the rest of the Iranian economy collapsing, coinciding with the US sanctions entering the third year in August. Poverty in Iran is also expanding every day in light of the deteriorating economic situation, while the regime is harnessing all its capabilities to support terrorist militias in the region in order to destabilize some countries.

Danger phase

Official figures and reports confirm that the Iranian economy has slipped into a dangerous phase, or even reaching the point of no return, after the regime in Tehran neglected the people's demands and focused its interests in supporting terrorism in the region.

The decline in Iran’s armament capabilities contributed to limiting Tehran’s ability to confront or even threaten a response to these attacks, as the country is denied access to conventional weapons due to the United Nations import ban imposed on the regime, which is scheduled to end in October and could open the door for Iran to purchase newer weapons.
