GNA militias braving hunger, death west of Sirte

The militias of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) are living in fear these days, against the background of the rifts that are appearing within the government.

The same rifts are impinging on the morale of the members of these militias. They are surrounded with hunger and death in the vast Libyan deserts.

The troops deployed south of Sirte to enter the city are being eaten away by the scorching heat and the sands of the desert, the news site, Libya 24 quoted the media office of what is known as Movement 36 which is affiliated to terrorist Salah Badi as saying.

It added that the members of the GNA militia preparing to attack Sirte had left their children back in Tripoli and other GNA-controlled areas without electricity or money.

They are also braving the coronavirus, the site said of the families of the members of the GNA militias.

The office referred to what amounts to famine among the members of these militias west of Sirte.

It said hunger, the coronavirus and the heat kill some of the members of these militias.

Meanwhile, the news site, Africa Intelligence, said there is growing anger among the members of the GNA militias, especially among the militias made up of Syrian mercenaries.

It added that the members of the militias are angry because of deteriorating conditions, especially given the fact that their commanders leave them in the desert to brave danger, in the absence of any support or supplies.

The commanders of the GNA, the site said, are afraid to talk about this growing anger for fear of bringing their failure to the surface.

It said some of the members of the GNA militias had already escaped after some of their colleagues had died.
