Palestinians living in UAE praise Abu Dhabi-Tel Aviv peace deal

The United Arab Emirates struck on August 13 an historic peace agreement with Israel, a move that will boost regional peace and security. The deal will potentially reorder the map of the region.
The two countries agreed to fully normalize their
relations in return for the suspension by Israel of its planned annexation of
territories from the occupied West Bank. This annexation would have sabotaged
Palestinian statehood dreams.
Palestinians living in Emirates
The Palestinians living in the United Arab Emirates
welcomed the deal warmly. The Palestinian community in the UAE issued a
statement on August 16, in which it lashed out at Palestinian officials who
criticized the deal.
The Palestinian leaders would rather have used a
cordial language in inquiring about the deal from the UAE government, the
community said in the statement.
It added that the UAE has a leadership that has
vision.
The same leadership, the community said, has the right
to hammer out whatever deals that serve the interests and the strategy of its
country.
The community noted that the tribes establishing the
UAE had been in the region for thousands of years.
"These tribes have been the strongest backer of
the Palestinians and the Palestinian cause," the community said.
It added that the UAE played host to a large number of
Palestinians and gave them the opportunity to rise.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians are living and
working in the UAE, the community said. This has to be appreciated, it added.
Full confidence
The community also denounced the burning of UAE flags
in the Palestinian territories.
It described these acts as having nothing to do with
the manners of the Palestinian people.
It expressed confidence in the UAE leadership and its
continual support of the Palestinian people in its pursuit to establish its own
independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Palestinian nationals said, meanwhile, that the peace
deal between the UAE and Israel boosts regional and international peace and
security.
The same deal opens the door for prosperity in the
region, the same nationals said.
