UAE-Israel’s deal... US emphasis on achieving peace in Mid-East
Under American auspices, Israel signed a peace
treaty with the United Arab Emirates, to normalize the relations between the
two parties.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed his
gratitude for this agreement, as it represents the most important step that has
been taken towards achieving peace in the Middle East in 25 years.
He said in his Twitter: “I am pleased to come to the
Emirates and congratulate the Emirati people for reaching the historic Ibrahim
agreement, and I hope that this visit will contribute to developing this push
towards peace in the region.”
After the signing of this agreement, the United Arab
Emirates became the third Arab country to reach peace with Israel and establish
official relations with it, after Egypt (in 1979) and Jordan (in 1994), as
Israel has not yet established any diplomatic relations with the Arab Gulf
states.
Pompeo made a foreign tour, with Israel at its head
after his visit to Sudan and Bahrain, to be the destination of the Emirates
after that, at a time when the administration of US President Donald Trump
intensified its efforts to push a group of Arab countries to sign peace
agreements with the Israeli side. .
There is praise from the American side for this
agreement concluded between the United Arab Emirates and Israel. The American
President emphasized that the treaty could lead to achieving peace in the
Middle East, and revealed that there are other countries that might want to
join such a treaty, because it is a great treaty, and there A universal welcome
to her.
On a related note, the American delegate to the
United Nations, "Kelly Craft", affirmed that the peace treaty between
the UAE and Israel is the most important step towards peace in the Middle East
in 25 years, hoping that other Arab countries will follow the example of the
UAE in concluding peace treaties with Israel, and that the Palestinians will
follow suit.
That visit was preceded by a phone call from Pompeo,
with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy
Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who discussed the peace treaty
between the UAE and Israel, and the prospects for strengthening it in a way
that serves the foundations of peace and stability in the region, and discussed
strategic relations between The UAE and the United States, and ways to support
and develop them at various levels in order to enhance the common interests of
the two friendly countries, and discuss many regional and international issues.
Writer Hamad Al-Kaabi says, in the Emirati
newspaper, Al-Ittihad, that it is time for this region to enjoy peace,
stability and development. Conflicts and tension have ravaged it over the past
decades, and many opportunities have been missed in order to find the right
path that leads people to a prosperous life and makes hope possible.
The UAE adhered to peace, and will continue to
support legitimate Arab rights in the Arab-Israeli conflict, and with the
rights of the Palestinian people, and Emirati diplomacy is part of all efforts
in the region to bring about a just and honorable peace.
As the leadership and people of the UAE believe that
peace gains are not comparable to losses in conflict, and that relations
between countries should not revolve around the same point.
Observers confirm that the agreement is a historic
achievement that is recorded in favor of the Palestinian cause, which remains
the first central issue for the Arabs, evidenced that the first goal of the
agreement is to preserve the rights of the Palestinians, to salvage the
two-state solution, and to push towards achieving it in a way that guarantees
permanent stability in the region, and that it does not mean in any way that
the UAE gives up On Palestine, but it increases the opportunities for
rapprochement and support to achieve the goals and aspirations of the people,
and the benefits of this agreement will become more evident, especially as it
opens the door towards economic and scientific cooperation between two of the
largest and most advanced economies in the region; This will reflect positively
on the region.
