EGYPT WARNS AGAINST THE DANGER OF FOREIGN FIGHTERS MOVING TO OTHER COUNTRIES

29 September 2018: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has warned of the
threat that can be posed if foreign fighters move from Syria's Idlib to other
countries in the region.
He called
for not allowing setting up safe corridors for the terrorists.
This came
during his meeting with his Finnish counterpart Timo Soini on the sidelines of
the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Egypt's top
diplomat voiced Egypt's keenness on fostering bilateral relations with Finland,
said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Saturday.
For his
part, the Finnish top diplomat invited Shoukry to visit Helsinki to follow up
efforts meant to promote cooperation in various domains and coordinate stances
towards regional issues.
Both
ministers discussed the latest developments pertaining to the Libyan and
Palestinian files.
Shoukry
reviewed Egypt's vision towards the Palestinian issue, highlighting the importance
of coordinating international efforts to encourage both Palestinian and Israeli
sides to resume negotiations as soon as possible.
He also
underlined the necessity of supporting UN efforts for reaching a comprehensive
settlement of the Libyan crisis.
