UAE, Saudi Arabia join hands in fight against terrorism

The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have been working together for several years now in the fight against extremism and terrorist organizations, especially the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
The two countries
formed a military coalition to fight all forms of extremism and violence. They
also launched hundreds of initiatives to spread awareness about the dangers of
terrorist organizations.
Top religious
institutions in the two countries also designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a
terrorist organization that does not represent either Islam or Muslims.
Coalition
The two states
participated in the formation of the international coalition against terrorism.
They received international praise for their efficient participation in
airstrikes on terrorist hideouts and camps in different countries. They led
some of the branches of the coalition.
Saudi Arabia then
formed the Islamic Military Coalition against terrorism. The UAE was one of the
earliest countries to join this grouping.
Saudi Arabia also
founded the Global Center Against Extremism in May 2017. The center was opened
on the sidelines of the Arab and Islamic-American summit in Riyadh. The UAE
also joined this center.
In addition to the
center, the UAE made a large number of similar moves and launched dozens of
initiatives.
These moves and these
initiatives aimed at analyzing extremist discourse and undermining it, in
coordination with a select group of experts and specialists.
The Saudi-UAE Coalition
participated in the fight against terrorism in Yemen after the liberation of
Aden in July 2015.
The two countries
launched an open war against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. They regained
the security initiative in the country and formed a security belt.
