Tahrir al-Sham factions fighting each other
New rights are emerging within Tahrir al-Sham, one of the militias controlling northern Syria.
A conflict erupted between two factions of the same
militia in Bhora village in northern Idlib. The conflict morphed into an armed
fight that left some of the members of the two factions wounded. Other members
were taken into custody for participating in the fight.
The fight erupted when one of the factions broke into
Bhora village which is controlled by the other factions, according to the
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Some of the members of the two factions were arrested
and their arms taken away from them, the observatory said.
It added that the same members would be sent to a
religious judge for stepping into the territory of another faction.
However, the two factions accuse each other of causing
the fight.
Nonetheless, Tahrir al-Sham has been suffering internal
divisions for some time now. In-fighting started within the militia in 2017.
Clashes between the different factions of Tahrir
al-Sham broke out in early 2018. This happened after Tahrir al-Sham, the
largest militia in northern Syria, succeeded in kicking all other militant
groups out of the northern part of Syria. The militia controls around 60% of
northern Syria.
Tahrir al-Sham is also collapsing because of the
policies of its commaner Abu Mohamed al-Julani.
