EU welcomes elections of Barham Salih as president of Iraq

The European Union welcomed on Wednesday the
election of Barham Salih as a president of Iraq and the choice of Adel Abdel
Mahdy as prime minister.
A statement issued by the EU and carried by the
Iraqi al Somaria news channel congratulated Salih and Mahdy, expressing hope
the prime minister will be able to form his government as soon as possible.
The EU called on all Iraqi politicians to support
the stability of their country in the long run and cooperate with the new
government to achieve the stability, security and democracy the Iraqis deserve.
