Egypt senator commends US terror designation for Brotherhood militia
A member of the Egyptian Senate has said that the designation by the US State Department of the Muslim Brotherhood Hasm militia as a "terrorist" organization shows that the world has already started realizing the dangers posed by the Brotherhood and other terrorist organizations.
Senator
Amr Fahmi even expected the US State Department to start taking a hard stance
on states sponsoring these terrorist organizations soon.
The
administration of new US President Joe Biden will find itself in a real test on
this file, Fahmi said in a statement.
He
called on the new US president to take a series of measures to tighten the noose
around the Brotherhood, including by banning this group altogether.
These
measures, he said, would help Arab and Middle Eastern countries eradicate
terrorism.
Fahmi
said when an organization is designated as a terrorist one, this designation
negatively affects the financing of this organization.
Countries
that financially sponsor these organizations are then prone to sanctions, he
said.
Fahmi
said these terrorist organizations smear the Islamic religion.
The fact is that these organizations know nothing about the Islamic religion, even as they claim to be speaking for it, Fahmi said.
