Sweden cracking down on Brotherhood financing

Swedish authorities have succeeded in dealing a painful blow to the Muslim Brotherhood after suspending financing to Ibn Roshd Educational institution, a Muslim Brotherhood arm in the country. 

This move encouraged a number of Swedish politicians to officially demand a ban on the financing of the institution throughout the whole of Sweden.

The Swedish government is expected to look into these demands in the coming few weeks.

According to Swedish media, Ibn Roshd invites extremist and anti-Semite figures to it, encourages the use of arms and incites violence against women.

One of the newspapers cited a seminar by the institution in 2018 where it invited a Tunisian radical who encouraged youth to travel to Syria for "jihad".

The institution continues to invite the same man for its seminars, despite criticism.

The Swedish government suspended funding to two organizations affiliated to the institute.

This brings the number of institute organizations receiving Swedish government funding down to five, instead of seven previously.

In mentioning the reasons for suspending funding to the two organizations, the government said their activities did not move hand in hand with the democratic principles of Sweden.

A prominent politician said the Swedish government had decided to suspend financial support to Ibn Roshd against the background of the institution's involvement in extremism and incitement to hatred.

Swedish moves for suspending financing to the Muslim Brotherhood.

In June last year, a French newspaper revealed that French authorities had decided to suspend financing to an educational institution affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood in northern France.
