'Jerusalem Summit' kicks off in Dhahran

Cairo
– Arab leaders decried the US administration's recognition of Jerusalem as the
capital of Israel, and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, who inaugurated the 29th
Arab League Summit in Dhahran on Sunday, named it the "Jerusalem
Summit".
King
Salman announced the allocation of $150 million to the Islamic Endowment
Support Program in Jerusalem in addition to $50 million to UNRWA.
Addressing
the summit, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said the Arab world "is facing
unprecedented challenges".
"We
need a comprehensive strategy for the Arab national security to meet the
existential challenges facing the Arab countries," the President said.
"It
is time we acted seriously to put an end to the bloodshed in Syria, " he
added.
The
President voiced concern over the escalation of tensions in Syria, stressing
Egypt's complete rejection of the use of internationally prohibited weapons.
