Bus carrying Copts came under attack in Minya

A bus carrying a number of Copts came under attack near the Monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Minya on Friday, a security source said.

The attack left seven people dead and as many injured, he added

Security forces rushed to the scene to establish the circumstances behind the attack, while ambulances moved the injured to hospitals, he said.

The main road leading to the monastery was sealed off, he clarified. Efforts are underway to track down the culprits, he underlined.

The source appealed to all mass media outlet to stick to official statements and avoid reports circulated on social media related to the attack.
