Ethiopian Airlines operated on Friday the first
direct passenger flight between Addis Ababa and Mogadishu after 41 years, the
Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation reported.
The resumption of direct flights comes 41 years
after Ethiopian Airlines Group stopped its route to Mogadishu in the 1970s.
The relaunching of flights helps connect Somalia
with the rest of the world, the airline's chief executive Tewolde Gebremariam
said in press statements.
It will also contribute to rebuilding Somalia and
strengthening relations between the two countries' peoples, he added
