Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika ordered to provide absolute support to Egypt during its rotating presidency of the AU in 2019, the Algerian prime minister said Saturday.

Ahmed Ouyahia’s remarks came during his meeting with his Egyptian counterparrt Mostafa Madbouli on the sidelines of the 11th extraordinary African Union (AU) summit, hosted by Addis Ababa on November 17-18.

Bouteflika’s directions came as both Cairo and Algiers share almost identical views concerning joint African action, Ouyahia elaborated.

The Algerian premier expressed his pleasure for meeting Madbouli, who is attending the summit on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The Algerian prime minister said his country is looking forward to hosting meetings of the Algerian-Egyptian higher committee in the first quarter of 2019.

For his side, Madbouli asked his Algerian counterpart to convey Sisi’s greetings to Bouteflika whom he lauded for his great successful efforts for restoring stability to his country.

Madbouli also praised the existing cooperation between the two North African counties in various fields, citing the participation of an Algerian delegation in the World Youth Forum, recently held in Sharm el Sheikh.

The Egyptian premier said that Cairo was looking forward to a distinguished Algerian participation in the investment in Africa conference, slated to be held in Sharm el Sheikh in December.
