Islah (Reform) Party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen, launches campaigns to include terrorist elements, especially from the al-Qaeda, in its camps.

Some prominent party leaders encourage terrorists inside the party's camps and training centres to carry out terrorist operations in favour of the group.

They also mobilize the same elements to regain control of the provinces of Hadhramout and Shabwah.

This comes even as people living in the Hadhramout Valley call for the exit of terrorists from Brotherhood camps in their areas, in line with the Riyadh Agreement.

Nonetheless, the Muslim Brotherhood opposes such calls and escalates its opposition to the Presidential Leadership Council and the Arab Coalition which is led by Saudi Arabia.

Crowd of terrorists

The leaders of Islah Party keep making field visits to their party's camps which contain jihadists and terrorists supported by sacked Yemeni vice president Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar who has developed close contacts with those terrorists since the war of occupation of the south erupted in the summer of 1994.

Most of the mobilization takes place inside an Islah Party camp in Arma Directorate in Shabwah.

However, the residents of Hadhramout Valley want the terrorists inside the camp to leave, in the light of the Riyadh Agreement.

In refusing to abide by the terms of the agreement and its opposition to the Presidential Leadership Council, Islah repeats what it did in the provinces of al-Jawf, Marib, and Abyan.

The party works hard to maintain a foothold in Hadhramout and Mahra, considering this a fateful issue, on which the fate of the Brotherhood in Yemen hinges.

This is especially true after the Islamist movement handed over its strongholds in the northern governorates to the Houthi militia.

Khaled al-Arada, a prominent al-Qaeda leader who is on an international list of wanted persons, appeared several times beside al-Ahmar during his visits to the battlefronts in the year before last year.

Al-Ahmar visited a number of camps in early and mid-December 2022, with the aim of reinforcing Brotherhood camps.

Al-Arada delivered an inflammatory speech inside one of the Popular Mobilization camps of the Brotherhood in Marib. He attacked the Arab Coalition, the Hadrami Elite Forces, the Transitional Council and its armed forces. He even vowed to carry out what he described as 'painful operations', liquidate its leadership, and regain control of Hadhramout and Shabwah.
