US supports Cyprus’ right to exploit its natural wealth amid Turkish provocations

The United States recognizes the right of Cyprus to develop
the resources in its Exclusive Economic Zone, a State Department Spokesperson
said on Tuesday night.
Following the launch of an exploratory drilling by US energy
giant Exxon Mobil in plot 10 of Cyprus’ EEZ, last Friday, a Turkish
seismographic research vessel has entered plot 4, accompanied by Turkish
warships.
“The US policy on Cyprus’s EEZ is longstanding and has not
changed: The United States recognizes the right of the Republic of Cyprus to
develop the resources in its Exclusive Economic Zone” a Spokesperson of the
State Department reiterated, replying to a question.
