Iraqi Security Forces Launch Swords of Truth Operation to Eliminate Remaining ISIS Cells
The Iraqi security forces launched several military
operations to pursue the remnants of the terrorist organization
"ISIS" and to clear all parts of Iraq's provinces from its remnants.
These operations have played their intended role in reducing the threat of the
organization and ending the presence of its cells. The latest of these operations
launched by the Iraqi security forces was "Swords of Truth," which is
part of a larger operation to eradicate the remaining elements of the terrorist
organization.
On Saturday, February 18, 2023, the Iraqi Security Media
Cell announced the launch of the "Swords of Truth" operation, in
implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister, "Mohammed Shiaa
Al-Sudani," to the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, and for
the purpose of continuing to pressure the remaining elements of
"ISIS."
According to a statement issued by the Security Media Cell,
the latest military operation is part of a larger operation that has been
ongoing for a week, involving all security forces, with the support of the Air
Force and the Army Aviation.
"Swords of Truth" is not the first of its kind
against the terrorist organization "ISIS," as it was preceded by
other operations that achieved a significant part of their goals in reducing
the threat of the organization within Iraq. The Iraqi forces launched both the
"Solid Administration" and "Desert Lions" operations in
late 2021 to pursue the organization's elements, which resulted in the killing
of dozens of ISIS members, including first-line leaders, as well as the arrest
of others.
Despite the fact that all the cities that the terrorist
organization had seized during the liberation battles have been restored, other
operations followed, the most famous of which was the comprehensive security
operation called "Iron Hammer" in April 2022, to purify the areas of
"Wadi Al-Shai" and "Wadi Azghiton" in Kirkuk province,
north of the country, and the adjacent areas of the Hamrin Mountains range.
The expert on jihadist movements, "Sabrah
Al-Qasimi," says that any action against the "ISIS" terrorist
organization is an action for the sake of humanity and aims to undermine the
organization.
"Al-Qasimi"
explained in exclusive statements to "The Reference" that the
military operations against the remnants of "ISIS" in Iraq continue
to this day.
