Director of the Centre for Middle East Studies in Paris (CEMO) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of al-Bawaba News, Abdelrahim Ali, has met a host of European Parliament members.
The meetings, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, were part of Ali's current visit to Brussels.
Among those meeting the CEMO Director was Italian MP, Carlo Fidanza, who heads the Committee on Religious Freedoms in the European Parliament.
Ali and Fidanza discussed religious freedoms in the Middle East, especially in Egypt and other Arab countries.
They also discussed the role Islamist groups play in restricting these freedoms.
Ali invited the members of the Committee on Religious Freedoms in the European Parliament to pay a visit to Egypt and other regional states.
This is necessary, he said, so that the members of the committee can see the great strides taken in the region as far as religious freedoms are concerned.
He said these strides were particularly taken after the exit of Islamist groups from the scene in these states.
Ali also met Cypriot MP Costa Mavuridis, a prominent member of the Social Democratic group in Cyprus.
MP Mavuridis held a luncheon on Wednesday in honour of the CEMO director.
He and Ali discussed terrorism in the Middle East, especially in Egypt, and the effects of developments in Libya on Mediterranean countries.
Ali and Mavuridis agreed to hold a seminar inside the European Parliament about the same issue and the role played by the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe.
The group, Ali said, works to destroy European values and uses suspicious money to achieve this goal.
Ali's tour to Brussels is part of a series of visits he is paying to European parliaments.
The CEMO director is expected to pay a visit to the Italian parliament at the end of this month.
During his visit, he will discuss the suspicious financing of the International Organization of the Muslim Brotherhood.
He will also hold a seminar inside the Italian parliament.
