Cairo
– Loyalists of the Palestinian Islamist group have threatened to avenge the
assassination of a Palestinian scientist in Malaysia.
While
some Hamas loyalists vowed to retaliate, other officials said the movement
"has no plans" to avenge the assassination of Fadi al-Batsh, who was
shot dead in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
"The
movement does not plan to assassinate any Israeli officials," a Hamas
official told THE REFERENCE on Tuesday.
The
Hamas official said the Islamist movement "has enough and to spare issues
at home".
"Israel
has targeted Hamas elements overseas a number of times. Why would Hamas take
action this time? The retaliation for the death of Batsh will be postponed,"
he added.
