Syria is in war against terrorists, says Ali

CAIRO – Director of the Center for Middle East Studies Abdel Rahim Ali said Thursday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad wages a brutal war against terrorist organizations in his country.
The Syrian army, he said, fights Daesh and al-Qaeda.
He added at a seminar on the financing of terrorist organizations in French capital Paris that Egypt's position on Yemen is clear.
He said Egypt refuses to send ground troops to the Arab country with memories of the 1960 Yemen war in mind.
Ali said he wholeheartedly backs the war the Egyptian army is waging against terrorists in Sinai.
Making another Afghanistan of Somalia, Ali said, will cause a huge problem to Egypt.
The seminar is organized by the Center for Middle East Studies. It is held simultaneously with an international conference in the French capital on the financing of terrorism.
French President Emmanuel Macron attends the international conference, along with a large number of terrorism experts and government representatives.
