Intelligence services work to destabilize Mideast, says Jacquard

CAIRO – International terrorism expert Roland Jacquard warned Thursday against the allocation of funds by some Arab intelligence services to destabilize the Middle East region and some western countries.  

He added at a seminar on the financing of terrorist organizations in French capital Paris that these intelligence services use hidden funds to finance terrorism.

He said the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood organization finances jihadist Salafist groups in the Middle East and in Europe.

He noted that the Brotherhood amassed its wealth from illegal activities, such as arms and drug trafficking.

He pointed to the presence of deep relations between money laundering mafias, the Muslim Brotherhood, and terrorist organizations.

The seminar is organized by the Center for Middle East Studies. It is held simultaneously with an international conference in the French capital on the financing of terrorism.

French President Emmanuel Macron attends the international conference, along with a large number of terrorism experts and government representatives.
