OIC condemns inter-community violence in Mali

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic
Cooperation (OIC) Yousef bin Ahmed al Othaimeen, has strongly condemned attacks
that caused the death of at least 37 people in violent inter-communal clashes
in Central Mali on Tuesday 1 January 2019, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The secretary general expressed his deepest sympathy
to the Government and people of Mali and conveyed his condolences to bereaved
families.
Othaimeen reiterated the OIC’s full solidarity with
Malian authorities in their ongoing struggle against armed groups.
He called upon Malian concerned parties and
international partners to intensify their support for the implementation of
Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in Mali, notably the Disarmament,
Demobilization and Reintegration process, in order to achieve reconciliation
between the different communities of Mali.
