Police forces thwart militants bid to detonate a mosque in Herat

The Afghan police forces have thwarted anti-government armed
militants bid to detonate a mosque in western Herat province of Afghanistan,
reported Khaama Press news agency on Monday.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Monday that the
militants were looking to detonate two improvised explosive devices inside a
mosque in Adraskan district but the National Police forces discovered and
defused the explosives with the support of local residents.
According to a statement released by MoI, “The criminal
terrorists do not even respect holy places as part of their activities against
Islam and humanity.”
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban
have not commented regarding the bombing plot so far.
Herat is among the relatively calm provinces in West of
Afghanistan but the anti-government armed elements are active in some of its
remote districts where they often attempt to carry out destabilizing acts.
