Mogherini confirms EU full support to Geneva talks on Syria
European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign
Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini asserted the EU's full and
continued support to the UN-led Geneva negotiations on Syria.
Mogherini made the remarks during a phone call with
Geir Pedersen, new special envoy of the UN secretary-general for Syria who took
office earlier this month.
Mogherini discussed with Pedersen ways by which the
EU supports the political process in Syria, citing the third Brussels
Conference on supporting the future of Syria that will be held next spring,
said a statement released by the EU delegation to the UN in Geneva on
Wednesday.
Mogherini invited Pedersen to visit Brussels as soon
as possible for discussing the latest developments pertaining to the Syrian
file, the statement added.
