Six gunmen killed, injured in Afghanistan raids

Six gunmen were killed and injured on Wednesday in
airstrikes on the hideouts of the anti-government armed militants in
northeastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, Afghan news agency Khaama
Press reported.
The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan said the
latest airstrikes in the vicinity of Tashkan district left at least four
militants dead and two others wounded.
The airstrikes also resulted into the destruction of
two hideouts of the militants, the Ministry of Defense added.
The anti-government armed militant groups, including
Taliban insurgents, have not commented on the news so far.
This comes as counter-terrorism operations involving
air and ground operations are underway in various provinces of the country.
Badakhshan is among the relatively volatile
provinces in northeastern parts of the country where the Taliban insurgents and
militants belonging to the other insurgent and terrorist groups are actively
operating in some of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities. (MENA)
