Arab Medical Union finishes first stage of humanitarian campaign

The Relief and Emergency Committee of the Arab
Medical Union announced on Wednesday the end of the first stage of a
humanitarian campaign meant to alleviate the suffering of Syrian and Yemeni
refugees and some families in Palestine harmed by cold weather.
The campaign entitled "Def'a" (Warmth) is
meant to reach out to and support people suffering from harsh winter weather in
Arab countries.
Its first stage included the delivery of blankets,
heating tools and furnishings to refugee camps damaged from heavy rains and
snow storms.
The aid went to Syrian refugees in Idlib province
and Yemenis in Ibb governorate.
The second stage will take place in January and
February and will be directed to some impoverished families in Egypt and
displaced Burmese, Syrian and Yemeni people, said Dr Osama Raslan, secretary
general of the union.
The campaign aims at rescuing thousands of families
living in hard conditions because of weather changes, poor health services and
inappropriate housing, he added.
