Major General Patrick Cammaert
The United Nations announced on Tuesday that it has
accepted the resignation of Major General Patrick Cammaert, the head of the UN
monitoring team in Yemen's Hodeidah.
The international organization said that Cammaert
will remain in his post until a successor is named.
Al Arabiya News Channel reported that the UN
official was intending to leave his position.
The resignation comes after Houthi militias opened
fire on Patrick Cammaert and his team last Thursday in the Red Sea port city.
The UN's spokesperson tweeted at this time
confirming the safety of the UN team but said that the incident is "a
dangerous development."
