A device to detect hate speech and incitement to Islam, on Twitter developed by the Organization of African Dialogue in South Africa, which seeks to understand this extremist discourse, on social media, specifically on Twitter.

The Observatory for Monitoring Islamophobia at Egypt's Dar al-Ifta praised the new tool, stressing that such a speech creates a sense of fear among Muslim societies and violates the basic principles of justice.

The Observatory said in a statement that significant steps have been taken in the use of “automated learning” to classify hate speech in general, strongly, widely in a timely manner, keeping in mind that automatic learning automatically detects whether Twitts contains Islamophobia or not.

It monitors the severity of hate speech against Islam and Muslims, and includes a continuum of verbal assault, defamation of Muslims, insulting them and calling for their disregard.

The observatory pointed out that the tool defined anti-Islamic hate speech as “any content produced or shared that expresses the negativity against Islam or Muslims”. Under this definition, strong Islamophobia includes phrases such as “all Muslims are barbarians” while Weak one includes less intense expressions, such as “Muslims eat strange food”.

The ability to distinguish between weak and powerful Islamophobia will not only help to better detect and remove hatred, but also enable them to understand the dynamics of Islamophobia and to investigate radicalization as a person becomes increasingly hostile to Islam.

The Observatory concluded that exposing hate speech against Islam is a real and pressing challenge for governments, technology companies and academics. Unfortunately, this problem will not disappear and there are no simple solutions, but if there is a serious desire to remove the rhetoric of hatred and extremism from cyberspace, For all who use it, then we need to start with the right tools.
