Abul Gheit, Russian presidential representative confer on latest developments in region
Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit
conferred Tuesday with visiting Russian Special Presidential Representative for
the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov on the latest developments in the
region.
They exchanged points of view on a number of
important regional issues topped by the latest Syrian and Palestinian
developments in addition to efforts exerted to achieve Palestinian
reconciliation, Spokesman of the Secretary General of the Arab League Mahmoud
Afifi said.
During the meeting, Abul Gheit reviewed the stances
and visions of the Arab League concerning the Syrian and Palestinian issues, he
said.
Abul Gheit asserted the importance of working on
reaching a peaceful settlement for the Syrian crisis and supporting the efforts
exerted by the new UN Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen, he added.
Bogdanov reviewed the Russian efforts exerted to end
the Syrian crisis, Afifi said.
They agreed on boosting efforts to guarantee the
legitimate rights of the Palestinians, topped by their right to establish an
independent state, he added.
