UN report says Houthis plunder humanitarian relief

A UN report said that those who make
gains from the ongoing war in Yemen wish the conflict would continue without
any peaceful solution.
The detailed report prepared by the
UN Security Council showed that warlords have profiteered from the war, accusing
the Houthi militias of corruption and making financial gains from high taxation,
customs and fuel monopolies.
The report said the Houthis used the
humanitarian aid as war supplies for the militias, noting that some close individuals
to Mohammed Ali al-Houthi are involved.
The 300-page UN report said it would
be difficult for the Houthi militias to achieve a victory. It noted that the
Houthis get financial resources from wages and customs duties in Sanaaa.
It also said the Houthis get high
taxes collect tens of millions of dollars per month from as oil imported
through Hodeidah port. The report accuses the Houthis of seizing humanitarian
aid for their war and profiteer from selling fuel on the black market.
