Egypt takes part in regional conf. on protecting submerged cultural heritage
Head of the Central Administration for Submerged
Antiquities at the Ministry of Antiquities Ehab Fahmy will take part in a
regional conference on the protection of submerged cultural heritage, which is
currently in session in Sharjah.
A statement released Wednesday by the Ministry of
Antiquities said the four-day conference will address management of submerged
cultural heritage in the Arab world as well as Arab cooperation with the UN
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to protect the
submerged ancient treasures.
Fahmy, for his part, will deliver an address
shedding light on the ministry's role in management of cultural heritage,
development of submerged antiquity sites in Egypt as well as encouraging the
Egyptian and foreign antiquity exploration missions.
The conference is set to issue recommendations on
means of protecting and safeguarding the submerged cultural heritage.
