Head of the Central Administration for Submerged Antiquities at the Ministry of Antiquities Ehab Fahmy will take part in a regional conference on the protection of submerged cultural heritage, which is currently in session in Sharjah.

A statement released Wednesday by the Ministry of Antiquities said the four-day conference will address management of submerged cultural heritage in the Arab world as well as Arab cooperation with the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to protect the submerged ancient treasures.

Fahmy, for his part, will deliver an address shedding light on the ministry's role in management of cultural heritage, development of submerged antiquity sites in Egypt as well as encouraging the Egyptian and foreign antiquity exploration missions.

The conference is set to issue recommendations on means of protecting and safeguarding the submerged cultural heritage.
