UN special envoy for Yemen leaves Sanaa after 4-day visit

UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths has left
here after a four-day visit, Al Arabiya news channel quoted Yemeni sources as
saying on Thursday.
During his stay in the Yemeni capital, Griffiths and
the Houthi group discussed arrangements to facilitate the task of a UN team
overseeing the ceasefire agreement in the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, the sources
added.
The UN team was formed as per the UN Resolution no.
2452, which calls for the deployment of 75 observers to Yemen's port city of
Hodeidah for six months.
The observers' deployment comes after the Houthi
group and the legitimate Yemeni government reached a ceasefire deal on Hodeidah
in the UN-sponsored peace talks in Stockholm.
Griffiths talks with the Houthi group focused on the
necessity of abiding by the Stockholm agreement with regard to halting
hostilities in Hodeidah and withdrawing their militants from Hodeidah three
ports, in addition to the redeployment of rival forces out of the city, in
accordance with the new timeline, the sources added.
