Army uproots terrorist cell in Western Desert

The Armed Forces and Civil Police killed eight
dangerous terrorists, arrested others and destroyed three SUVs and a hideout
containing weapons and ammunition as part of a raid launched in the Western
Desert in the country.
In a Saturday statement, Military Spokesman Colonel
Tamer Rifai said that the operation was based on accurate intelligence
information in cooperation with the national security sector.
According to the received information, the cell was
planning to commit hostile acts that are aimed at destabilizing the country, he
pointed out, noting that other terrorists were arrested during the operation
and three vehicles and an arms cache were destroyed.
The Armed Forces and civil police will continue
their efforts for uprooting terrorism to preserve the security and stability of
the country, he added.
