Socio-economic file referred to Arab summit should include feasible executive mechanisms

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit said
that the socio-economic file to be referred to Arab leaders during their summit
meeting in Tunis in March should include a clearly-set road map outlining
feasible executive mechanisms and timelines.
Addressing the inaugural session of the 103rd
ministerial meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council, he called for crystallizing
sound Arab socio-economic policies that serve the common good of the Arab world
and answers to all its political, security, food, water, energy and other vital
needs.
Today's meeting acquires special significance given
that it comes less than two weeks after the convocation of the Arab
socio-economic summit in Lebanon, he said, underlining the importance of the
resolutions and decisions taken by the summiteers on numerous Arab social,
economic and development files, especially as regards many of the challenges
facing the Arab world including those of hosting Syrian refugees, supporting
the Palestinian economy, securing Arab peoples' food, energy and water needs,
eliminating poverty and digital economic transformation.
